The Skin Plumper (Restylane Vital®, Teosyal Meso®)

Intro
As we age the skin loses its ability to retain hydration this results in the skin losing elasticity and therefore lines and wrinkles inevitably form. By the time we reach middle age we have lost around 40% of our bodies’ hyaluronic acid levels, resulting in loss of hydration and natural collagen production. With the use of dermal fillers the more obvious lines and wrinkles can be filled successfully, however, the finer lines, crepey skin and thinner looking skin that appear under the eye, around the neck and even on the backs of the hands had in the past been problematic areas to treat as successfully. With the advancement of dermal filler technology come products such as Restylane Vital® and Teosyal Meso®. These products are formulated along similar lines to dermal fillers but have an extremely thin consistency allowing them to be easily injected over much larger areas, delivering hydration under the skin where it’s needed most.

How is it administered ?
The practitioner injects the product superficially; a large area such as the neck should take no longer than 15-20 minutes to complete. The injections are relatively painless as a very fine gauge needle is used and the product is so thin.


Following the treatment
You may have mild swelling and a slight redness to the skin immediately post procedure that should dissipate after 12 hours, but it can last as long as three days. You should avoid saunas, sunbeds and direct heat for at least eight hours after the treatment as it tends to cause a throbbing sensation.

What results should I expect?
In general clients should expect a noticeable change in the skins condition. In most cases clients will see a difference after one treatment, however for the very best results it is advised to have a course of 3 treatments, one treatment every 2- 4 weeks and then one maintenance treatment every 4-6 months. This treatment is designed to build and replenish the bodies stock of hyaluronic acid levels gradually.

Post Treatment Guidelines
• Do not apply any other treatment to the skin on the day of treatment i.e. skin exfoliation, laser treatment etc.
• Follow your practitioner’s recommendations if you are having a course of treatments
• Cleanse skin lightly on the evening of your treatment and use normal moisturizing regime
• Return to normal skin regime the following day
• Avoid heat sources such as sauna, sunbed, gym
• No tanning products on the day of the treatment, and use with caution over the following 48 hours
• Make-up can be applied but lightly on the day, and use as per your normal regime the following day
• Avoid any facial jewelry on the day of treatment
