Smoothing Lines & Folds

Intro
Using the very latest in non-permanent dermal fillers, this treatment is the safe and quick way to improve lines and deep folds caused through ageing. These lines can be termed as static meaning they are caused by the skin losing elasticity and hydration rather than through muscle over action. They are present even when our face is at rest.
These lines add years to the face as they are caused by a mixture of ageing and environmental factors such as smoking and other forms of pollution that affects our bodies.
As we age the skin becomes increasingly de-hydrated, as we lose the moisture from the skin, lines and folds form because of the lack of hydration to support the elastin in our skin. These fillers re-introduce this lost support.

Non Permanent Dermal fillers background
These products have been used in the UK for the last decade; they are licensed for cosmetic use and so are considered to have the best patient efficacy. They are non-permanent fillers meaning that they are completely absorbed by the body over a period of time, this is what makes them safe to use and limits any complications that can be associated with permanent dermal fillers. The products that we use are Restylane®, Perlane®, Teosyal® and Juvederm®. These products have been chosen by UK Aesthetics as they have the best records of customer satisfaction and most established safety data available. Restylane® for instance is now the most commonly used filler throughout the world, with over 2 million treatments per year.

How Dermal Fillers Work
The fillers are a gel like substance. The gel is available in various grades of thickness, to be used according to the depth of the line or fold to be treated This is not however just a gel, it is made up of a substance called Hyaluronic acid, which provides collagen with its ability to hydrate the skin which keeps our skin looking fresh, smooth and youthful. Dermal fillers when injected have the ability to attract water molecules, which in turn help to plump up the skin and so re-instate lost support.

How The Treatment Is Administered
The area to be treated is thoroughly cleansed and if required the practitioner will apply a topical anaesthetic cream to numb the area. The filler is administered through a series of injections. The Filler is massaged into place by the practitioner making sure that the filler is evenly distributed.

Immediately Following The Treatment
The results from this treatment are instantaneous. There may be a slight swelling at the injection site, this will subside within 24 hrs. Slight bruising may follow this is quite normal and is only superficial. Most clients find that all bruising and swelling is gone within 24-48 hrs.

What Results Should I Expect From The Treatment ?
You should expect all treated lines & folds to be substantially reduced in depth and not as pronounced. This may take 2 treatments to achieve. The results can last anything between 4-12 months; in general our clients have results that last around 8 months.
